Woodberry Kitchen is looking for an experienced pastry cook/baker to support the Pastry Chef in the production of all pastry/baking for the fine dining restaurant, private events, andbeloved coffee shop Artifact Coffee. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the best ingredients grown in the Mid-Atlantic, including locally grown and milled flours, incredible seasonal fruits, and other thoughtfully sourced ingredients. This role works closely with the a team of highly skilled professional cooks and James Beard award-winning Chef Spike Gjerde.The ideal candidate has experience working with pastry production including mixing and baking. Experience laminating, with delicate desserts, or cake production is preferred. Responsibilities: Manage and execute the prep list provided by the pastry chef, including but not limited to cake baking and decorating, bread baking, and laminating doughs. Maintain cleanliness and enforce proper food handling. This includes but is not limited to heating, holding, cooling, storage, labeling, dating, vacuum sealing, and general cleaning. Assist in overall kitchen organization, including but not limited to dry storage, big walk-in, small walk-in, line, dish, and storage areas. Adhere to all policies, as provided, regarding hiring, onboarding, ethical behavior, conduct, performance, anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, and any other policy defined in the Handbook or otherwise. Qualifications: 1+ years of experience as a pastry cook or baker Wednesday to Sunday availability required Experience with cake baking/decorating, bread baking, laminating doughs. Experience with high-volume production required Ability to adapt and be flexible while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor with the team and guests Experience working with high quality ingredients preferred ServSafe certified preferred Dependable and motivated to learn Compensation: Hourly, starting at $24/hr (based on experience) Health benefits available to full-time employees after 60 days
